Standard Test Method for Evaluation of Hydraulic Properties of Geosynthetic Clay Liners Permeated with Potentially Incompatible Aqueous Solutions

Test Method Title

Standard Test Method for Evaluation of Hydraulic Properties of Geosynthetic Clay Liners Permeated with Potentially Incompatible Aqueous Solutions

Reference Number

ASTM D6766

Material

Geosynthetic Clay Liner

Test Property

index flux, hydraulic conductivity

Description of Test

This test method involves permeation of a 100-mm (4in.) diameter GCL test specimen using an incompatible liquid. A bladder interface device is used to isolate the incompatible liquid from the test apparatus. The specimen is set up in a flexible-wall permeameter and subject to prescribed cell and back pressures. Flow vs. time is measured and recorded. Two scenarios can be followed 1: using water to saturate the specimen and initial flow and 2: using incompatible liquid to saturate and initial flow.
