Compression strength
Two methods are performed: Method A: specimens are 4 inches in diameter and 4.584 inches in height; used for materials with 30% or less retained on the 3/4 inch sieve. Method B: specimens are 2.8 inches in diameter and 5.6 inches in height; used for materials that pass the #4 sieve. Specimens are molded and cured for the specified time and tested in unconfined compression with a continuously applied load of 0.05 inches per minute.
