Soil
Coefficient of Consolidation
This test method covers the determination of the rate and magnitude of consolidation of soil when it is restrained laterally and drained axially and subjected to controlled-strain loading. Information concerning rate and magnitude of consolidation settlement of soil is essential in the design of earth and earth-supported structures. The results of this method may be used to analyze or estimate one-dimensional consolidation settlements and rates.
