Preparation and Testing of Controlled Low Strength Material (CLSM) Test Cylinders
Concrete is sampled in accordance with ASTM C 5971. Concrete is poured into curing molds without rodding. Each mold is covered to protect against moisture loss, and carefully placed in a protected area. Cylinders cast and cured in the field are transported to the laboratory 4-days after production. Cylinders are then cured in high-humidity chamber (or water tank) for the specified curing period (e.g., 7-days, 28-days, etc.). On the date the cylinder has cured for the specified period of time, the cylinder is removed from the water tank and tested in compression with strength and failure mode reported.
