Representative Projects Project Showcase »

University of Rhode Island

University of Rhode Island

Geocomp installed a fully automated stress-path triaxial apparatus and is training students at the University of Rhode Island on how to perform advanced triaxial tests and cyclic triaxial tests for various research project and classroom laboratory exercises. The equipment will be used to perform consolidated undrained triaxial tests on undisturbed samples of organic and inorganic silts.

UDOT Geotechnical Laboratory

UDOT Geotechnical Laboratory

Geocomp installed and trained Utah's Department of Transportation (UDOT) laboratory staff on their purchase of the Shear Trac II. The equipment will be used to perform the consolidation and shear phases of the lab's standard direct shear and residual shear tests under full automatic control. The UDOT lab will use the equipment as part of its laboratory testing of soils and rock for the geotechnical design of embankments, bridge foundations, retaining walls, and slope stability for state transportation systems.

SDDOT Foundations Lab

SDDOT Foundations Lab

Geocomp installed and trained the laboratory staff at the South Dakota Department of Transportation on their purchase of three selected geotechnical testing units which included two Load Trac II machines and one Shear Trac unit. The lab uses the one of the Load Trac II units to conduct one-dimensional consolidation test on undisturbed samples, a second Load Trac II to test the unconfined strength of soils and the Shear Trac for direct shear testing to determine the shear parameters of soils.

GeoDesign Inc.

GeoDesign Inc., Oregon

Geocomp installed and trained the GeoDesign staff in Portland, Oregon, on their purchase of the fully automated triaxial cyclic, RM, and stress path system. GeoDesign offers clients a full range of integrated geotechnical, environmental and geological consulting and will use the equipment in its lab to support soil testing and to conduct RM, strength and consolidation testing.
