Seventh International Symposium on Field Measurements in Geomechanics
The Seventh International Symposium on Field Measurements in Geomechanics was held September 24-27, 2007, in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. W. Allen Marr, chair of the FMGM Organizing Committee, and Geocomp’s president and CEO, welcomed 350 conference attendees from around the world.

The three-day technical program included presentations on applications of instrumentation to measure field performance, recent research into new instrument types and new applications. Speakers invited from leaders in the field instrumentation industry lectured on the following theme topics: Early Warning Systems, Success and Failures of Instrumentation Programs in Major Construction Projects, Long-Term Monitoring of Bridges, Advanced Integrated TPS and GPS Technologies for Monitoring Large Structures, Seabed Logging, Use of Remote, Real-Time Monitoring Data for Supported Excavations, Statistical Methods for Monitoring Data Analysis, and Risk Driven Approach to Monitoring. Each day, conference participants could attend from among 3 concurrent technical sessions. They also had the opportunity to visit thirty-one exhibits set up in the exhibit hall. (See below for a description of Geocomp’s exhibit.)
