Geocomp Corporation is a leader in applying computer software and hardware to the practice of civil engineering.  The company was founded in 1982 by Dr. W. Allen Marr, P.E., a leading geotechnical engineer with more than 30 years of experience in geotechnical teaching, research and practice.

Dr. W.Allen Marr, Chief Executive Office

Dr. Allen Marr is responsible for the overall management of the company as well as project management, technical guidance and review. He heads the Consulting Division that provides analysis, design and instrumentation services in geotechnical engineering and construction.  

Dr. Marr holds a PhD  in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical concentration and a  M.S. in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical concentration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His areas of expertise include problems related to groundwater flow, design and monitoring of large earth structures, computer applications for engineering problems, measurement of soil properties, automated monitoring and control systems, slope and excavation stability, risk assessment, landfill monitoring and quality control testing, slurry wall design and installation, and dewatering systems.Dr. Marr has authored or co-authored more than 45 professional papers and 15 research reports on subjects in geotechnical engineering, construction and application of computers to civil engineering practice. He was chairman of the ASTM Subcommittee on Data  Acquisition–D18.95 and co-chairman of the ASTM Subcommittee on Field Instrumentation-D18.23.

Dr. Rachid Hankour, Lab Systems Manager

Dr. Rachid Hankour’s role at Geocomp includes managing automated soil testing equipment production and providing technical support, systems installation and training. 

Dr. Hankour holds a PhD in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical concentration. He has over fifteen years of extensive expertise in soil and rock testing techniques and advanced academic and project experience. He has been professionally associated with several major engineering firms and worked on USA-COE, DOE, EPA and industrial projects. Dr. Hankour has taught undergraduate and graduate courses including Introduction to Geotechnical Engineering, Science of Engineering Materials, Foundation Engineering, and Consolidation and Shear Strength of Soils. He is a member of the American Society of Engineers (ASCE), Boston Society of Civil Engineers (BSCE) and Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society

Mr. Salim Werden, Senior Engineer

Mr. Werden is responsible for managing all software and systems operations, including the operation of the complete line of computer-operated automated testing equipment. His duties also include maintaining and upgrading the computer software products fro civil engineering analysis and design.

Mr. Werden holds a M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University. He is an instrument control specialist with extensive database experience.

Chafik Hankour, Senior Electrical Engineer

Mr. Chafik Hankour is responsible for the design of all automated computer controlled electronics including control, power supply and LED boards.

Chafik is a software and electrical engineer with over 15 years of experience.  He holds a M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University.

Ms. Fei Yin, Geotechnical Instrumentation Engineer

Ms. Fei Yin is responsible for overseeing and performing geotechnical tests for measuring strength and compressibility.   Her duties include performing triaxial, consolidation and shear testing of soil and rocks.

Ms. Yin holds a M.S. in Civil and Geological Engineering with a geotechnical concentration from the University of Manitoba, Canada and a B.S. in Engineering Mechanics from North China University of Water Conservancy and Hydroelectric Power. Her past work has included determining the mechanical and physical properties of soil and rock in lab and field settings, the monitoring of a 15 meter span test tunnel, designing slope stability, and determining rock fracture properties and ground initial stress by using acoustic emission techniques.  Ms. Yin has authored or co-authored more than 10 professional papers in geotechnical engineering.

Donna Bastarache, Production Manager

Donna Bastarache is responsible for surface mount soldering, quality control, setting up and testing all equipment before calibration. She is responsible for checking and correcting machinery and circuitry as well as worldwide shipping.

Donna holds an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, from Middlesex Community College.  She attended WPI and attained degrees in Management, Design for Manufacturing, and Design for Cost.  She holds many soldering certificates such as Military DOD 2000 and Space Defense 2000.
